What is a Vortex?6 Tips for a Great Hike

Sedona is a hiker’s paradise. With over 100 trails, and elevation from 4,000 ft. around Red Rock Crossing to 7,122 feet at the top of Wilson Mountain, the variety of scenery is astounding. Various vegetation, views and trails make hiking in Sedona popular causing some trails to be crowded. Also, keep in mind the season when planning a hike. Some Red Rock buttes are heavily shaded making for great summer hikes, while these same trails are cold at other times of the year.

By now you might have heard about Sedona’s vortexes. From everything I’ve read, learned and experienced, Sedona has four vortexes which are located at:

  • Bell Rock – a wonderful masculine vortex which has a nice loop called Bell Rock Loop Trail or you could choose to hike up the Red Rock. Views are especially beautiful in the morning as the sun rises over the Munds and Lee mountains.

  • Cathedral Rock – a feminine vortex and my personal favorite! With a 600 ft. elevation change this is a strenuous hike but worth the effort. The views are breathtaking. It’s been said to be the most photographed scene in Arizona.

  • Boynton Canyon – has both masculine and feminine energies. Of the four major vortexes, this is the longest hike available (up to three hours roundtrip).

  • Airport Mesa – a masculine vortex and is easy to reach and hike. The closest vortex to the center of Sedona, its views extend to nearly 360 degrees.

Each of these Sedona vortexes, or energy centers, are easy to find if you know where to go.

Cost for hikes and vortex tours subject to the number of members in your party and the length of the tour.

If you are interested in day hikes or vortex tours, please give me a call or send me an email. I’d be happy to create the perfect experience for you.
